Quick Start: What is Biodynamics?

Biodynamics in Four Easy Steps

Biodynamics is best learned through direct experience. Start small, watch the land respond, and then widen your applications. Follow the four‑step sequence below and you will stand on firm, time‑tested ground.

  1. Buy a Biodynamic Kit. These kits provide you with everything you need to get started, or to enhance your practice.

  2. Treat a Test Plot. Choose a single bed, garden row, or half‑acre. Treat this section with biodynamic preparations, and leave the rest untreated. Start small.

  3. Observe the Season. Compare the treated versus untreated areas. Note soil crumb, root depth, leaf sheen, and pest pressure. Photographs, simple Brix readings, and a gardener’s journal will tell the story.

  4. Scale Up. Next season apply one unit of BD 500 per acre at planting and one unit of BD 501 per acre at canopy‑break. For areas under one acre, still use a full unit of each. And also always use One Compost Preparation Set conditions up to 15 tons of compost.
