Biodynamic Pfeiffer Field and Garden Spray | Instructions for Use

One unit of Pfeiffer Field & Garden Spray treats one acre of land. If your garden is less than one acre, activate 1 level teaspoon for 1,000 square feet or 1 level tablespoon for 3,000 square feet.

Activation:

  1. Moisten the BD Field and Garden Spray in a flat pan or dish with just enough water to keep it moist and pasty. It will take a few minutes to get the powder moist; then it will absorb readily so that you may need to moisten it once more.
  2. Allow the moistened Compost Starter to activate for approximately 12–16 hours or overnight.
  3. Dilute the resultant paste-like substance in the amount of water your sprayer is calibrated to spray over 1 acre. (It is immaterial whether the dilution is done with 5 or 50 gallons of water, just so each unit covers one acre. Use as much water as needed.)

IMPORTANT: if the job has to be interrupted, thoroughly stir the solution before resuming. Interruption of a few hours or overnight will not reduce the effectiveness. However, letting the solution stand several days will definitely alter its quality, potency, and ultimately the results. The Pfeiffer Field & Garden Spray has been dried without harming its ingredients. As along as the product is kept in a dry, dark, cool place (not refrigerated), its shelf life is approximately 9 months to 2 years, or more.

Tips:

  • Spray during the latter part of the day, when the shadows are growing long.
  • Prepare your spraying equipment properly. If it has been used for other spray materials, clean it thoroughly by flushing it with clean water several times. If poison sprays were used, wash and flush poison with lye (1% solution) or soda (5% solution) and flush several times with clean water.Spray on a calm day. Strong winds will blow the spray to another field.
  • Spray as close to the ground as you can.
  • The product has been screened through a 50-mesh screen and should pass any nozzle of 0.0175 inch or larger. Oval or ellipsoid nozzles usually clog less than round openings. If in doubt, strain the activated liquid through a paint screen, a pottery sieve, or even panty hose.
  • For smaller applications, activate only the amount needed, and use a whisk or paint brush to spray.
  • Use Pfeiffer Field and Garden Spray on houseplants or as a bath for seeds and bulbs to enhance germination and plant health.
